Go is a board game for two players. It originated in China about 4,000 years ago. Go has reached its highest development in modern Japan, China, Taiwan and Korea. In these countries, Go is much more popular than Chess is in the West.

Hundreds of professionals compete for large cash prizes and millions of amateurs enjoy the game. There are even teachings and tournaments on TV and newspapers carry daily or weekly columns on GO board problems.
